Hi! I recently joined. I’m from Colombia. I think the Astonishing is one of the biggest DT albums. They made a really great work, and for me this album is really better than the last one.

    Greetings! 😉

If the subject is “The astonishing”, this album is incredible, first of all because the band deliver us a concept album of more two hours, and also because there are lots of recurrent themes, who come back all along the album. This record is full of magnificent melodies and modulations ; that’s why all themes interlock themeseves perfectly, all along the record. Music is in harmony with words. John Petrucci and Jordan Rudess realised an enourmous work for this album.

When I red a few elements who were revealed befor the album’s release, I had the impression that the story was the same that the novel “1984”, de George Orwell, but John Petrucci did more than this, creating a real scenario for this concept album. And if, one day, “The astonishing” would become a film!

“The astonishing” is a fantastic album. John Petrucci and Jordan Rudess created musical themes for differents tharacters of the history ; the melodies and musics are incredible.

In an interview, Jordan Rudess said : “Actually, a DVD of “The astonishing live” isn’t in our projects ; I regret it, because the retranscription of this album on stage was an intense and unic experience. I hope one day, the band recorded a DVD of this amazing moment.

And the silence surrounded all the forums. ((

Nobody has to say something interesting. Me too. I do regret it, ’cause this silence is really boring.

    Greetings for ya, guys!

I’m sorry, Faythe Yung, but I told you all that I could on this fantastic album. Just one thing : there was a long time that I haven’t heard melodies so beautiful composed by the band. Sometimes, music tells things stronger than words.

Wizard, (I’m not offended, I hope, you to, LOL) you’re right, ’cause sometimes music can be without words!

When my parents listen to the radio, I think “What the fuck? How someone can listen to pop music? It’s too soft and easy for me.”

Dream Theater is one of the best things that has happened in our world!

P.S. I enjoy “Chosen” from The Astonishing, it’s nice.

P.P.S. There’s “Psycho” by System of a Down on the radio. )))

I think The Astonishing isn’t the best of their performances. It’s too simple to me! I wanted much more aggression! I enjoy really heavy sound, and this album is not for me.

There’re some interesting songs like The Gift Of Music, Chosen, Our New World, but all songs are worse than they could be. 🙁

This’s just my own opinion and I don’t wanna upset or offend you.

    Octavarium forever!
