The following have only ever been played live (and not recorded in a studio setting):
“Bombay Vindaloo” (improvised jam, available on LATM)
“Moon Bubbles” (available on Taste the Memories FCCD)
“Showdown” (evolved into “Raise the Knife”)
“Slow Motion” (played during the first half of Jan ’93)
untitled funk jam (no real name – played on select shows during the middle of Apr ’93)
“Innocence Faded” jam (early version of the current IF, played in Apr ’93)
Awake jam (instrumental following LSOAD during Awake shows from Nov ’94 thru early ’95)
“Lost Without You” (formerly Rena’s Song) (played during early ’95 thru the rest of the year – has since been played at John’s G3 appearances). Released on Ytsejam Records “Tokyo, Japan 10-28-95”.
“Caught in Alice’s Nine Inch Tool Garden” – a reworking of Caught in a Web that later evolved into New Millennium. On the Metropolis 2000 tour, Dream Theater played a fusion version of this track and New Millennium called “Caught in a New Millenium”.
“A Crack In the Mirror” – a reworking of the Mirror intro leading into Puppies On Acid, played extensively on the FII tour and released on Ytsejam Records “Los Angeles, California 5-18-98”.
There is likely also many other jam sessions played live that never has seen a further release. Bootleg producers often give these names.
