Ytse Jam is an instrumental track on When Dream And Day Unite. It was a live staple for many years. But what does Ytse Jam mean?
Ytse Jam is Majesty written backwards. It doesn’t have any special meaning otherwise. Majesty was the name of the band until 1989, when they were forced to change due to another band having the same name.
“Ytse” is pronounced “yit-say”, and has become a kind of identifier for the fans. Several fan clubs over the time has called themselves something with “ytse”, with the conglomeration of fan clubs in the late ninenties/early 2000s called themselves the “ytseclubs”. The people using the mailing list very actively in the 90s called themselves “Ytsejammers”.
Ytsejam Records was the name of the record company owned by Dream Theater which released (exclusively) Official Bootleg recordings of old Dream Theater live shows, demo recordings and studio outtakes.
Ytsejam Inc. is the company that the members of Dream Theater is “employed” under.
