Dream Theater is well known for being a mix of several distinct "styles". The four most prominent ones are: Metal, Progressive Rock, Melodic Rock and Pop rock. Each album has a good mix of each of the four styles, but there are some which feature more prominently than others. Here I've tried to map each album to the four styles.

The following is a table trying to describe each album according to this mix.

Discography Studio Album Styles

Each style is be given a score ranging between 1: Minor, 2: Average, and 3:Major - where minor means little focus is given to that style on the album, to major, where the majority of the songs are in that style.
