The Killing Hand is a sci-fi lyric, inspired by the types of stories commonly seen on the Twilight Zone.
The main character of the story wakes up alone in the middle of a field. Standing up, he is facing a war memorial full of the names of many dead people. Seeing this horror, he finds a way to go back in time (which for some reason unknown to even John Petrucci is done by going to the bottom of the Ocean). Traveling back in time, but unable to interact with the past, he discovers that all the deaths could be traced back to one individual: The Killing Hand – a ruthless dictator ruling over the land with absolute cruelty. The character begs the spirits to give him a body to be materialized in, and with it he manages to somehow stop the Killing Hand by killing him. He travels back into the future. There, on the wall, is a new name – the characters own name. He realizes that he himself is The Killing Hand.
