About Me

My name is Casey Stechishin. I have been a fan of Dream Theater since the Fall of 2000 when my brother came home with an mp3 of Finally Free and A Change of Seasons. I immediately fell in love with the band and went out and bought SFAM. I was 14 at the time. I had pretty much just started playing guitar at 13 and when hearing John Petrucci play, I took my hobby a little more seriously at learning better techniques and styles. I have always been a fan of the prog genre. When I was 4, my uncle introduced me to Kansas’ Leftoverture. I still have the cassette he gave me ;-). My father then introduced me to Alan Parsons, Yes, ELO, and other bands once he found out how much I enjoyed Kansas. My first concert ever was in 1995 The Alan Parsons Project opening for Kansas at The Beacon Theatre in New York City. That would be my only concert until my brother and I went to see Dream Theater for the first time in 2004 on the Train of Thought World Tour at Madison Square Garden in New York City. I had to get a job at the local little league field in order to pay for the tickets back then. After that I went to college at Eastern Kentucky University until 2011 to get a Bachelor’s and Associates degree in the Graphics Communications field. In April of 2012 I met, who would later become my wife. We got married in December 2015. She is a huge Genesis, Peter Gabriel fan (lucky me right!). When the Astonishing came out, which she loves, we went to see them at the Radio City Music Hall show in New York City. Beyond that, I love music and also love seeing people listen not only to Dream Theater but other bands and genres that they are not used to and getting hooked to new sounds.

Thank you for having me in this Fan Club! I’m not huge on posting on social media or on forums. I do like reading them, however and seeing peoples likes, dislikes, and views on different things.

Again, thank you and ROCK ON DT!!!!!
