It’s an early version of “The Mirror” which consisted only of the opening riff up to where the vocals come in. You can see it in action on the Live in Tokyo video, as an intro to “Take the Time”.
Interestingly, this is the first thing JP worked on when he got his 7-string guitar. But it was created and played with a 6-string guitar for a long time before JP got a 7-string, during the writing sessions for Awake.
The guitar melody during the intro (after the dun-dun-dun part) was a variation of a melody they made up (“Puppies on Acid, aren’t they a lovely sight, Puppies on Acid, I would eat them if I might.”
